Kohl’s Try-On • September 2019

You know how sometimes you go shopping and you are so ready to spend some money on new things, but you can’t find ANYTHING?! But then other times, you just have some free time and want to browse but not really spend a ton, and you want literally everything that you try on or look at! That does happen to other people right?! Well, that was me during this trip to Kohl’s. I haven’t been there in a while, and had a few minutes after school to stop and take a peek. Guys, I could’ve easily bought every single thing I touched. I think its a mind game. Maybe I need to go “browse” more often when I’m actually in need of something. I’m not even exaggerating when I say that I wanted to buy every single item I tried on!

First, let’s talk about these booties. I’ve got them on in every picture, and that shows just how versatile they are. They’re the absolute cutest, they come in several different colors, some patent finish and some suede finish like these. Both are great options, and I love all of the colors!

This dress was one of the first items I saw when I walked into the store. I thought it was so cute, but had a feeling I wasn’t going to love it on me. I was so wrong! This was adorable! It was also super comfy and had pockets. That right there should be the selling point. Dresses with pockets are 100 times better than dresses without. Everything about this dress was wonderful. It’s a “mini” dress, so it may be a tad too short for some people’s liking, but I’m only 5’4″, so it hit me at a great spot, just above my knees. It was loose and flowy, but also fitted in the right spots. The sleeves were so adorable too! It’s TTS, I’m wearing a small.

In addition to this sweater being the absolute perfect fall color, it has the cutest cut as well! I love that it’s long enough for leggings, but also a great length to pair with jeans. It was super soft and comfortable, and also very lightweight and perfect for the transition into fall. It’s TTS, I’m wearing a small.

LC by Lauren Conrad never disappoints me. These jeans were a perfect non-distressed pair of comfortable, mid-rise denim. The wash was a great color, the rise was perfect, and the overall fit was just great! I of course had to cuff them because they were too long on me, but they do come in a short option online, which I would definitely opt for with my height. Otherwise they are TTS, I’m wearing a 6.

This sweater is another lightweight option for the fall, and I’m loving the color! This would look great as it is with denim, or with a pair of dressier pants for work. It was super comfortable and TTS, I’m wearing a small.

Of course if you’ve been following me for any length of time, you know how much I love leopard anything. When I saw this part of me was thinking it was a little bit too Lisa Frank-ish, but the other part of me was thinking about how much I loved Lisa Frank and that was the part that won. Its a really fun take on a basic print, but its not too bright or obnoxious. Add in that these tees are some of the softest out there, and its a winner for sure! It’s TTS, I’m wearing a small.

I think that this sweater is absolutely darling! It also comes in a leopard print as well. Its definitely more of a fitted sweater, rather than the oversized look that we all love. But, I think everyone needs a good fitted option. I paired it with leggings, but it would look great with dress pants for work or denim on the weekend! It’s TTS, I’m wearing a small.

These leggings are a great pair of “pants” leggings. They’re the thick material that have a thick waistband to hold everything in. They don’t look bad with this sweater, but I’d prefer to wear a longer sweater to cover my booty a little more with them. Of course that is all a matter of personal preference! They’re TTS, I’m wearing a small.

This tunic top was a great simple top to throw on with jeans or dress pants! It was the LC by Lauren Conrad brand and had super cute back detail, that I unfortunately do not have a photo of. (I’m a great blogger, I know.) It was super comfortable, and just an easy piece that didn’t require much thought. A steamer, maybe, but thought, none needed. It’s TTS, I’m wearing a small.

TopDenimBooties

This top is actually the same as the top above, but just a different color option. I thought they were two different shirts, but when I pull them up online, they are the same. The lace on the bottom definitely changes it up enough for me to consider them two different shirts and want both of them. Same as the other, it’s TTS, I’m wearing a small.

I’m never going to give up on leopard, so of course I was in love with this one when I saw it. It has some of my favorite elements.. leopard, puffy sleeves, the perfect length to give it more of a dressy appearance. This is definitely a top I would pair with actual black pants or denim, not leggings. It didn’t look bad with these leggings, its again, just more of a comfort thing. Especially for wearing to work. But you can get the idea of what it would look like with some black pants. It’s TTS, I’m wearing a small.

Black is so difficult to photograph, I even tried to lighten the photo so that you could see it a little better and this was all I could do. But I had to share this blazer with you. I love a good blazer with a graphic tee and denim, with a dressy tank and dress pants, over a swing dress… the options are abundant. A good blazer has to be comfortable. I can’t wear something if its not comfortable! I’ve tried on a lot of blazers in my life and I’ve got a few great options in my closet that I love and can’t bear the thought of parting with, but I’ve also tried some really stiff and uncomfortable ones as well. This one, I’d say it ranks in my top 5 most comfortable blazers I’ve ever tried on. It’s definitely a more relaxed, boyfriend fit for a blazer, so if you’re looking for something super tailored and form fitting, this is not the blazer for you. If you want something relaxed but still put together, this is for you! It’s TTS, I’m wearing a small.

Another awesome piece from Lauren Conrad’s line! I absolutely love the sleeve detail on this sweater. It’s super lightweight and soft, and an appropriate length for leggings. I love the speckled look throughout the material and the tie on the hip just gives it a little something different. the sleeves are slightly ballooned out and I absolutely loved it! If you’re looking for a more fitted top, size down, otherwise I’d say its TTS, I’m wearing the small.

I may have saved the best for last. I’m seriously so in love with this trend of sweaters with skirts and booties. This sweater was so incredibly soft, I’m pretty sure I need it in every single color. It’s not tight around the neck at all, the sleeves are perfectly ballooned, and the length is perfect for a front tuck. It’s TTS, I’m wearing a small.

This skirt is a MUST have for fall! It was honestly the most comfortable skirt I think I’ve ever worn. I grabbed a size 4 and could easily have sized down to a 2, it was very loose. So, I highly recommend sizing down at least one size. The color is amazing, the comfort is off the charts, the fit is just perfect! I can’t say enough good things about it!

Kohl’s Try-On – July 2019

The boys and I had breakfast and decided to stop into Kohl’s and see what we could find. There were more things I wanted to try, but S decided he would be funny and run around the women’s clothing department hiding from me. So we left in a hurry. I did find a ton of cute stuff though! Try-ons with tag-a-long kiddos are super fun. You’re definitely missing out if you haven’t done it. Haha.

First we have this adorable Lauren Conrad dress. I absolutely loved the pattern and the style. It’s such a cute girly fit and perfect for a summer event. I put it on and S said, “You look so beautiful!” Such a little sweet talker. I really liked the pattern on the dress and everything about it. I’m wearing a small and I could have easily worn the extra small, so if you’re unsure, I’d size down. When it comes to Lauren Conrad I’m in between sizes in everything. This dress also comes in several other patterns as well.

Lauren Conrad Women’s Pleated Neck Dress – Hibiscus White

This really isn’t a great look for me. I loved the bright green color of this tank, and I think it would pair really well with white pants or jeans. Just definitely NOT these shorts. It’s a two layer shirt, so you don’t have to worry about your bra showing at all. It’s a great length too, which is why it doesn’t look good with these shorts. I’m wearing a small, it’s TTS.

Vera Wang Geo 2Fer Tank

This top by Lauren Conrad is so pretty! It’s hard to see but it had some sparkle throughout it. I loved the light colors and stripes. It looks good and is super comfortable. Very lightweight. You can kind of see my bra through it, so definitely go with a nude bra, or wear a cami under it. I’m wearing an XS and could easily have gone with a Small. So if you’re unsure, get your normal size. It won’t look bad if it’s slightly loose on you.

The shorts are a great basic pair from the Lauren Conrad line as well! They’re super stretchy and comfortable but I definitely recommend sizing up! I have on a 6 and could easily have gone with an 8.

Lauren Conrad Women’s Shirred Peasant Top | Lauren Conrad Feel Good Stretch Denim Midrise Shorts

This top is by far my favorite shirt I tried on. I absolutely LOVED the pattern on it. It’s a super comfy top, very lightweight and soft. It paired really well with these shorts, but would also look good with jeans! I’m wearing a small, so I’d say it’s TTS. (I spy little S in the background)

Lauren Conrad Petite Pintuck Peasant Top – Palm Trees White

I really liked this tank top! It’s super soft and comfortable and I’m pretty sure under $10. The color is so fun and the floral pattern is so pretty! I should have left on the shorts for this picture because it definitely does not go with these jeans. I’m wearing a small, so definitely TTS.

Mudd Weekend Tank – Yellow Rainy Floral

This tank is such a great simple basic. According to the website and the tags on the shirts, this and the yellow floral shirt are the same. Although this is a small and fit completely different than the other. I liked it but I would say size up and wear a bralette for sure. It’s definitely more on the sheer side, so if that’s not something you’re comfortable with a cami under would work also.

I really liked these jeans! They were a great fit. Definitely a mid rise, they hit just a little below my belly button. I’m just loving this dark stripe down the sides, similar to my Old Navy shorts, seen here. These are definitely TTS I’m wearing a 6/7 which is my true size in juniors bottoms.

Mudd Weekend Tank – New White | Juniors Denizen Boyfriend Jeans – Turn It Up

This jumpsuit seriously caught my eye as soon as we walked into the store. It had such fun colors and I loved the vertical stripes! The straps are not adjustable, FYI. I’m wearing a small, it fits TTS, and it hit me right at the ankle, so that’s also something to keep in mind. This would look adorable with wedges for a summer event! You could even throw on a jean jacket! I’d definitely choose a different bra with this, you can kind of see mine peeking out in the corner.

Juniors Speechless Stripe Jumpsuit

I’m wearing that same white tank from above with these amazing camo overalls! They were the first thing I saw when I walked in the store, and literally the only camo pair on the rack. They were SO comfortable and definitely adorable! They were a very soft French terry material. I’ve been wanting a pair of camo overalls and this just might be the pair I add to my closet. They would also look so cute with a t-shirt as well. I’m wearing a medium, and they are juniors sizing, so I’d say they’re TTS.

Favorite Affordable Denim

I have absolutely no problem splurging on a high quality item, if I can justify the purchase and it’s not completely outrageous. (I love a good designer handbag, but I’m talking like Coach… not Louis Vuitton – although I would graciously accept a Neverfull if someone felt like gifting me one.) However, I don’t think it’s an absolute necessity to spend a fortune on some things, like denim. I have so many affordable pairs that fit me so well! So, why would I spend hundreds of dollars on something I don’t absolutely need. I’d rather have a few extra Starbucks runs! I honestly try to keep my denim purchases below $50. But I will go higher if I feel they are truly worth it.

I’ve seen several of my favorite bloggers talking about Old Navy recently, and I’ve been IMPRESSED. I’ve never had any problems with Old Navy, in fact, there was a time that it was one of my go-to shopping spots. But more recently, I’d kind of gotten away from it. I’m telling you, they’ve got good stuff and it’s so affordable!

For YEARS, the only place I would buy denim was American Eagle. Like, I literally wouldn’t even try on denim anywhere else because they were that good. I feel like either I was going through a weird phase, or they were, because there was a period of time that I just really couldn’t find jeans I loved there. It was actually devastating because I was a loyal customer. Fast forward to now, and I’m back on the American Eagle train. I’ve gotten a few new pairs recently and I can’t get enough. (I’ve got two more coming this week!)

Like I said, the price is important, but it’s not the only thing that matters. If something looks or feels cheap, I’m out. I want the look and feel of high end without that high end price tag. I like my jeans to stay the same size all day. Isn’t it the worst when your jeans fit amazingly in the morning and by the end of the day they’re falling off?!

This pair from Old Navy is a perfect pair for work. I’m a teacher, so as much as I love a good pair of distressed denim, it’s better to save those for the weekend. This pair has just the slightest distressing at the ankle and they look so good! They are high rise, which is great!Disclaimer: The picture on the website does not do these jeans justice.

Another amazing pair from Old Navy! These are more distressed, but seriously SO CUTE! Again, I feel like these are so much better on and in person than they are on the model online. C’mon Old Navy, you’ve got to get better pictures!

These American Eagle jeans are perfect! They’re not distressed at all, so they’re great for casual Friday at work, but they’re still so cute, and comfy! They’re super high waisted and the button fly adds a nice touch!

This pair of is my all time favorite pair of distressed denim, unfortunately (but not really) I’ve lost some weight and they’re too big on me now. They kind of fit like a boyfriend jean, which honestly isn’t that bad. I’m debating whether or not to buy a new pair or just keep the ones I have. (YMI isn’t a brand I hear a lot of people talking about, but their stuff is good!! They make skinny “jeans” in just about every color that are PERFECT for work!)

I purchased mine from Jules and James Boutique, but you can find them here.

This pair of Lauren Conrad jeans from Kohl’s are another great staple. They have no distressing and are a darker color (also available in lighter shades) so they look great dressed up or down! A perfect mid rise pair of denim.

Find them here.

Lastly, is this super cute and comfy pair from Walmart. I never in a million years would have thought to even look at Walmart, until one of my favorite bloggers talked about these. I couldn’t pass them up for the price! They’re great quality too! A slightly lower rise, but by no means would they fit in the category of low rise.

I’m always on the hunt for good budget denim! What are some of your favorites?
