Don’t Put All Your Eggs in One Basket…

That phrase brings on a whole new meaning since losing access to my Instagram account…

It might not seem like a lot, but I currently have no access to my account with all 6200ish followers. Those followers are genuine, organic followers, with whom I’ve built wonderful relationships and am devastated to have lost. Unfortunately there is no way for me to regain them unless Instagram gives me back my account.

This has been a lot more emotional than I would have expected. I’m angry. I’m sad. I’m frustrated. But mostly, I’m tired. This is sucking the life out of me and I’m honestly getting to the point where I’m asking myself is this even worth it? Is all this stress and anxiety about a stupid social media site even worth it?

I genuinely appreciate the friendships that I’ve made and the conversations I have with people and that isn’t something I want to give up. I’ve appealed this massive mistake on Instagram’s part numerous times.

Here’s what happened:

Backtrack to about a month and a half ago… I woke up to a text message with my verification code for Instagram. Which would indicate that someone was attempting to access my account… so in a panic I changed my password before I took a shower and got ready for the day. Thinking nothing of it I went about my day and the next few weeks. Fast forward to Saturday. I was trying to log into Instagram in another app, and forgot what I had hastily changed my password to, so I figured no worries I have two factor authentication on, I’ll just change my password… and enter the code they text me. So I changed it and then waited for the text… nothing. So I clicked for a new code… nothing … so I clicked to use my backup codes. None of them worked…

Then I followed the prompts to gain access to my account which included sending a photo of me holding a piece of paper with a code written on it, to Facebook support. At first it seemed kind of fishy but I researched and found that this is in fact legitimate. I then FINALLY got back into my account only to be told that I said I was under the age of 13 and that Instagram was disabling my account. WHAT?? So since that, I’ve appealed this numerous times.. sending my drivers license to Instagram to prove that I am in fact myself and WELL OVER the age of 13.

So after several days of turmoil I decided to reach out to some of my blogging friends and create a new account. I’m not really interested in starting completely over, but if that’s what I have to do then so be it.

This might seem a little bit dramatic… Come on Sam… this is just social media. But to me it’s more than that… it’s two entire years of busting my ass to gain an organic following. I don’t buy followers. I don’t buy likes. I don’t pay money to do massive giveaways to gain followers. I’m still trying. I’m doing everything in my power to gain access to my account. But what I’ve learned from this is that there is literally no way to speak to anyone and get any help. I’ve filed claims… submitted appeals… messaged literally anyone I can think to message… I’m at a loss.

Follow my new account at Instagram.com/_asimplelifeblog and let’s show Instagram that you want me back! ❤️

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale – Women’s Picks

Back again with part two of my NSale post. This post will cover my picks from the Women’s section, and will likely be my last post regarding the NSale. Here’s why… I already covered the home section, which for me was small, because this season of life for me doesn’t include expensive blankets and candles, if I’m being honest. I also have no intentions to share anything kid related, because to be honest, there is nothing in the kid section that I would spend my hard earned money on, and I would’t expect you to do it either. Don’t get me wrong, I like the items in the sale… but I don’t own them and I can’t recommend them to you. I can share with you what I like, but I feel like we are all here looking for affordable options, and my $200 car seat works just as well as the $500 car seat available in the sale… And I’m not at a point in my life where I can justify spending that much cash on clothes that my kids will undoubtedly ruin within a few wears. #boymom. If you are able to spend that kind of money on clothes for kids, I applaud you and you deserve it! Financially for me, it just doesn’t make sense. (I prefer to find Nike, UnderArmour, etc clothes for the boys at places like TJMaxx and Marshalls.) I’ll also be sharing some images on the LIKEtoKNOW.it app! If you’re not following me, make sure you are because I post a ton more stuff there!

I’m not planning to share any Men’s items, simply because I’m not really shopping that section either. I’ll browse it through the weekend and share things I find on LTK and Instagram!

So, let’s do Women’s. This is obviously the section that I’m most excited for! I’m actually super bummed about this year, because I was planning to actually go to Nordstrom and do a huge try-on of all of the items in the sale that I’ve been looking at. But, alas, COVID has other plans for me.. that include everything but a trip to any store. I’m going to break this down into smaller sections like tops, bottoms, shoes, etc.. Just so it’s a little bit easier to find specific items if you’re looking for them.

Women’s Tops

BP All Day Tee – This is a great basic tee! It comes in several colors and is under $12! It runs large though, so size down. Another point to note, its a tad more on the sheer side, so keep that in mind.

BP. All Day Tee, Main, color, PURPLE SHEER
Sale: $11.90 – Price After Sale: $19.00

Project Social T Better Days Will Come Graphic Tee – I fee like we are all obsessing over graphic tees right now and the message on this tee could not be more perfect for the current climate of the world. Definitely on my wish list!

Sale: $18.90 – After Sale: $29.00

Caslon Pintuck Lace Detail Cotton Long Sleeve Blouse – This top is such a pretty basic top! I absolutely LOVE all of the dainty details on it! I think you could wear it with denim, black dress pants or even a skirt! Its just so pretty! It also comes in several other color options and I’m loving them all!

Sale: $24.90 – After Sale: $45.00

Vince Camuto Print V-Neck Blouse – Hi, my name is Sam and I hae an unhealthy obsession with leopard print. But seriously how pretty is this top! It would be amazing for the office. You know.. whenever we are all back to the office like normal? It would be super cute right now, dressed down with denim shorts, and adorable with a cardigan or blazer when it’s cooler outside!

VINCE CAMUTO Print V-Neck Blouse, Main, color, RICH BLACK
Sale: $29.90 – Price After Sale: $59.00

Gibson Cozy Twist Front Pullover – This has over 1000 great reviews, and if I remember correctly, it was a super popular item last year! (Or a VERY similar option!) It looks incredibly cozy and I kind of want every single color option! I think that it would look amazing with jeans, denim shorts right now, and dress pants.

GIBSON Cozy Twist Front Pullover, Main, color, OATMEAL ANIMAL
Sale: $28.90 – Price After Sale: $49.00

Barefoot Dreams CozyChic Lite Long Cardigan – Hear me out on this one… I’m not typically one to share barefoot dreams cardigans… BUT I’ve been raving about the Grace and Lace bambu cardigans that are roughly the same price as this guy is on sale. Truthfully… I’d rather spend the money on the Grace and Lace cardigan just because they are a brand that I genuinely love and want to support. But IF you’re interested in the Barefoot Dreams cardigan, this is the one I would recommend spending your money on. (I don’t own this one, or any for that matter, but if I were to buy one, it would be this one.) I think that the Grace and Lace Bambu material is probably the most similar to what this would be like. I’m considering this purchase.. but am not committed to it at all. Thanks for listening to me ramble.

Sale: $65.90 – After Sale: $114.00

Gibson Notch Collar Cotton Blend Blazer – I feel like a blazer is a closet staple for most people. You can dress it up, dress it down, do whatever you want with it basically. I think that a good fitting blazer is so important and can elevate any look. I like the fit of this one and the fact that it comes in several different color options! I just recently saw a friend share the bright pink version and I’m thinking I need to snag one!

GIBSON Notch Collar Cotton Blend Blazer, Main, color, ROYAL
Sale: $49.90 – Price After Sale: $98.00

To be honest, there were a ton of really pretty tops that I liked, but the pricing, even on sale… wasn’t something I felt comfortable sharing. There are so many other options!!

Women’s Bottoms

We the Free by Free People High Rise Busted Knee Skinny Jeans – I have these from a previous year, in every color they came in, and I LOVE THEM! They’re adorable, high quality, and have an amazing fit!

FREE PEOPLE We the Free by Free People High Rise Busted Knee Skinny Jeans, Main, color, DARK BLUE
Sale: $49.90 – After Sale: $78.00

We the Free by Free People High Waist Ankle Skinny Jeans – To me these appear to be the same as the Busted knee, but have a different title?

FREE PEOPLE We the Free by Free People High Waist Ankle Skinny Jeans, Main, color, BLACK
Sale: $49.90 – After Sale: $78.00

Zella Live In High Waisted Leggings – I’m sure you’ve heard this from like everyone who promotes the NSale.. but these really are amazing leggings. I have both the full length and the 7/8 length. Of course because I’m short, I prefer the 7/8 length lol. But they’re both great!

ZELLA Live In High Waist Leggings, Main, color, BLACK
Sale: $38.90 – After Sale: $59.00

Spanx Faux Leather Leggings – This is one item that I am 100% sure I’m going to buy. I’ve been kicking myself since last year for not buying them, and I refuse to pay full price for them when I know they go on sale every year! Everyone that I know that owns them LOVES them. I’ve tried some dupes out, and while they’re okay, I don’t think they come anywhere near close to the original! But I’ll report back once these bad boys are mine!

Sale: $64.90 – After Sale: $98.00

Women’s Accessories

Kate Spade Mini Small Square Stud Earrings – These are adorable and a VERY popular option! I personally don’t wear earrings because my skin is so sensitive I can only wear them for about an hour before they start itching. However, if I could wear earrings, I’d definitely own these!

KATE SPADE NEW YORK mini small square stud earrings, Main, color, MULTI GLITTER/ GOLD
Sale: $15.90 – After Sale: $32.00

Gorjana Parker Link Charm Necklace – I think this dainty necklace is so pretty! A few of my friends absolutely LOVE Gorjana pieces and I can totally see why!

GORJANA Parker Link Charm Necklace, Main, color, GOLD
Sale: $32.90 – After Sale: $55.00

Madewell Flower Etched Necklace – This piece is absolutely gorgeous! I love it and I’m definitely considering a must have! Its really affordable, under $25!

MADEWELL Flower Etched Necklace, Main, color, VINTAGE GOLD
Sale: $24.90 – After Sale: $42.00

Women’s Shoes

For sure this is my favorite section. So get ready… there will be quite a few items here… especially booties!

Marc Fisher Oshay Pointed Toe Bootie – One other item I’m allowing myself to buy is a new pair of booties or boots for fall. If you follow me on LIKEtoKNOW.it, then you know I already shared this and two other pairs. I like this pair because its slightly different with a higher cut ankle! I’m trying to decide which pair I’m going to get…

MARC FISHER LTD Oshay Pointed Toe Bootie, Main, color, CLOUD SUEDE
Sale: $99.90 – After Sale: $189.95

Blondo Valli 2.0 Waterproof Bootie – I have these in this black shade and I have had them for two winters (so my bootie is just slightly different than this… BUT, They are amazing! They look adorable with everything. I have worn them A LOT and they don’t look any different from day one! I’m a huge fan of Blondo booties and will continually recommend them!

BLONDO Valli 2.0 Waterproof Bootie, Main, color, BLACK NUBUCK
Sale: $69.90 – After Sale: $149.95

Charles by Charles David Duke Studded Chelsea Boot – I am OBSESSED WITH THESE! How cute are they?! I love a good classic black bootie, but the studs on this pair are so cute! They give them just a little bit of an edge and I am here for it!

CHARLES BY CHARLES DAVID Duke Studded Chelsea Boot, Main, color, BLACK
Sale: $74.90 – After Sale: $129.95

Steve Madden Kaylah Pointed Toe Bootie – I’m completely torn between this pair and two others. The first being the pair above. I think though, that I’m probably going to get this pair if I do end up buying any of them. I’ve always loved Steve Madden and this pair is $10 less. That’s almost a weeks worth of Starbucks LOL. I also really love the tiny silver stripe on the back of these. I think it just adds that little extra oomph.

Sale: $89.90 – After Sale: $134.95

Vince Camuto Gradina Block Heel Bootie – I feel like this is going to be THE bootie everyone goes for, which I can see why, but also kind of makes me want to get a different pair. These are VERY similar to the best sellers from last year, which you can still randomly find a few sizes left of, in some random corners of the internet. Also, if you like that style, you may want to check Poshmark, because I’m sure there are some on there. They are a very cute pair of booties and I know that everyone loves them!

Sale: $99.90 – After Sale: $149.95

Hunter Tour Packable Waterproof Rain Boot – This exact pair is not the pair that I own, but I can tell you that they are absolutely worth the price! I love, love, love my Hunter boots. I honestly reach for them more than my UGG boots that I’ve worn for… entirely too long. lol. I do HIGHLY recommend the boot socks if you plan to wear them in the snow. Or wear thicker socks. However, the boot socks completely change the look of the boot and I love them! I was able to get mine on sale, and unfortunately they aren’t a part of the sale. But I will definitely be sharing them if I ever find them on sale again! Make sure to follow me on the LIKEtoKNOW.it app!

Sale: $99.90 – After Sale: $150.00

Steve Madden Feather Genuine Calf Hair Loafer – If you only ever buy one item that I recommend, let it be a leopard flat or mule. I PROMISE you that this is a closet staple and you will not be disappointed. These are a major fan fave and have been popular for several years! There is also a solid black, tan, and snakeskin print version, here.

Sale: $39.90 – After Sale: $91.95

BP Maya Mule – I’m kind of obsessing over these! They’re gorgeous and if I didn’t have a pair very similar to them already, I’d definitely be grabbing them. They’re such a versatile shoe! They also come in a black color as well!

Sale: $44.90 – After Sale: $79.95

Steve Madden Forever Chain Pointed Toe Mule – Like I said above a leopard mule or flat is seriously a closet staple for me. This pair is gorgeous and similar to mine from last year, minus the chain and this toe is slightly more pointed. Regardless, they are stunning, and if I didn’t already have a pair I’d be snagging these.

Sale: $49.90 – After Sale: $89.95

Treasure & Bond Kallie Mule – Here is another beautiful mule that is slightly simpler if you’re looking for a pair without the chain detail! Pricing is exactly the same, so its just a matter of personal preference when it comes to style.

Sale: $49.90 – After Sale: $89.95

Vince Camuto Derika Leather Boot – This boot comes in this Tortilla Suede shade and a black as well. I personally LOVE this style of boot, but wish there was a cognac color as well. Although both of the shades available are beautiful!

Sale: $149.90 – After Sale: $239.95

UGG Fluffette Slipper – I can, with certainty, tell you that you will not be disappointed in these slippers. I’ve been a fan of UGG since I was in high school, and the quality is there. I’ve had the same UGG boots for probably 7 years now and the only thing they need is a new insole piece. My brother got me a pair of UGG slippers a couple of years ago for Christmas, and I wear them every single day and they’re just as comfortable as they were on day one.

Sale: $59.90 – After Sale: $89.95

Okay, so I think that is everything that I wanted to share. Of course I LOVE a lot of things, but I’m being practical. I can find dupes for some of these items for much cheaper. And that is my goal for this weekend! Head over to the LIKEtoKNOW.it app and follow me to see everything!

Let me know what items you’re loving!

XOXO

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Preview Info & my Home and Beauty picks

How many of you are shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale? I have ALWAYS loved this sale, because I’ve found some great higher end items at a really great price! For example my leopard mules from last fall, still obsessed with them and probably will wear them until they literally fall apart!

If you have a Nordstrom card, you can start shopping sooner, if not the sale begins on August 19. Depending on the amount of money you spend and your “insider” level, you may be able to begin shopping as soon as August 4! Here are the details:

Nordstrom

Don’t worry guys, I’m just an insider. So I only get to shop like 5 days before anyone who doesn’t have a Nordstrom card. To be honest, the only reason I opened a Nordstrom card was because last year, a few weeks before the sale, they were offering a $60 Nordy Note if you opened a card and bought something. So I literally bought a $10 tank top, and then had $60 to spend on the sale!

One thing that is so important about this sale, and any sale for that matter, is that you don’t spend more than you can afford. Sure its great to get something at a discounted price, but is it really worth it in the end if you’re charging it to a card and then paying interest on it? I’m not here to tell you how to spend (or save) your money, you do you, but its just a suggestion and a rule of thumb. I’m the queen of spending more than I need to, but even though I’m buying stuff I don’t always need, I’m not spending more than I have.

Pro Tip: If you don’t mind returning things… If you think you REALLY want an item, buy it! If it comes and you don’t love it 100%, return it. Nordstrom is great about returns and they’re free, so don’t miss out on an item that you really want because you’re unsure about sizing! (I know that’s kind of contradictory of my previous statement, but you’re anything like me… You have major buyers remorse over the things you didn’t get. lol)

What I’m going to do for this post is just go through the sale, talk about popular items, things I want, things I’ve heard about, and give you all my honest thoughts and opinions. (All images are directly from the Nordstrom Website)

Home Items

Here are some of the home items that I’m loving and I believe will be pretty popular! Honestly this is probably the smallest section of items I’m interested in, simply because I’ve got two toddlers and a dog and I still find some of the items to be too pricey for this season of my life. I’d love a barefoot dreams blanket, but I can’t justify the price, even the sale price. Not right now anyway…

Bliss Plush Throw – This blanket looks so unbelievably cozy and has me craving fall weather. There are almost 1600 5 star reviews, I’d say its pretty good and for only $24.90, you could grab one for yourself and a friend! There are a variety of colors!

NORDSTROM Bliss Plush Throw, Main, color, BEIGE BIRCH
Sale: $24.90 – Price After Sale: $39.50

S’Well Smokey Quartz 17 oz Stainless Steel Water Bottle – I don’t have an actual S’Well bottle, but I know people that love them! I love the neutral color of this one!

S'WELL Smokey Quartz 17-Ounce Insulated Stainless Steel Water Bottle, Main, color, SMOKEY QUARTZ
Sale: $22.90 – Price After Sale: $35.00

Meridian Blush Set of 6 Stemless Glasses – These wine glasses are so pretty! I love the shape and the blush color!

GODINGER Meridian Blush Set of 6 Stemless Glasses, Main, color, BLUSH
Sale:$25.90 – Price After Sale: $39.99

Beauty

There are a lot of great beauty finds, and some of them are things I’ve been wanting to try, some of them are products I already love!

BECCA Hydra-Mist Set & Refresh Powder – This is honestly one of the coolest powders I’ve ever used in my life! I’ve gone through two containers of it and I love it! Its very cooling and feels wet on your face, but doesn’t change the appearance of your makeup at all! I don’t recommend it for your undereye area, but for the rest of the face, this is amazing! It literally feels like you’re misting your face with a cool setting spray!

BECCA COSMETICS BECCA Hydra-Mist Set & Refresh Powder, Main, color, ORIGINAL
Sale: $23.40 – Price After Sale: $39.00

Supergoop! Defense Refresh – This is an awesome setting spray and makeup refreshing spray! Personally, I don’t use it to set my makeup, because I have found it to be a little bit too drying on my already dry skin. However, once I’m out and about and need some more sunscreen, this works really well! They’ve modified the formula slightly, so I’m excited to try the new reef-safe version!

Sale: $30

Supergoop! Full Size Play Antioxidant Body Mist SPF 50 Sunscreen – I’m definitely snagging this set, because just one bottle of this spray is usually $21, so you’re essentially buying two and getting one for free! I am absolutely obsessed with Supergoop sunscreen products and already have two giant bottles of the play lotion! I think this spray will be perfect to keep in our bag!

Sale: $42

Supergoop! Superscreen Daily Moisturizer SPF 40 Sunscreen Set – Some more amazing Supergoop! products! The play lotion is our everyday sunscreen, and I’m excited to try the body lotion!

Sale: $39

NECESSAIRE Full Size Lotion and Body Wash Set – I’ve heard such amazing things about this lotion and have been dying to give it a try! It’s definitely on my wishlist!

NÉCESSAIRE Full Size The Body Wash & Lotion Set, Main, color, NO COLOR
Sale: $35

L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil Duo Set – This is definitely a pricier item, but it is a product I use and really like. I don’t always have this in my shower, and I don’t use it every day, but it is a really nice luxurious body wash. I love to use it when my skin is feeling extra dry! I usually buy it once a year and when I feel like treating myself, I’ll use it.

L'OCCITANE Almond Shower Duo Set, Main, color, NO COLOR
Sale: $50

What items are you shopping for? What categories are you looking at the most? Stay tuned for my picks from the children’s, men’s, and women’s sections as well!

Makeup Brushes

If you follow my Instagram stories, and watched them all yesterday, thanks for hanging around! You’re the real MVP! Since posting that, I’ve had several people reach out inquiring about makeup brushes that I like to use, because I’m a great Instagrammer and didn’t even talk about them! OOPS.

So anyway, I thought I’d just throw together a quick list of all of my favorite makeup brushes that I use regularly! I’m just going to go in the order in which I usually put my makeup on. Lately I’ve been doing my face first, and then my eyes, so let’s go with that order.

Also, disclaimer… I’m not sharing close up pictures of my actual brushes because they all need cleaned. I promise you, these are all brushes that I use regularly and have purchased with my own money!

Face

Okay, so being completely honest, I’m 50/50 with face brushes for foundation and concealer. Depending on my mood, the day, and the products I’m using, I’m either using a kabuki brush and concealer brush, or a BeakeyBlender – You get 5 of them for under $10 and they’re literally exactly the same (in my opinion) if not better than, the actual Beauty Blender. I honestly think that price has a lot to do with it for me. I’m not down to spend $20 on a new sponge every 6-8 weeks. I’ll take the 5 pack for $8.99

Amazon

When I do use brushes, which like I said, totally depends on my mood, and lets be honest, if they’re clean or not… I have a few faves that I use for foundation and one that I use for concealer!

For Foundation, I like a couple of different brushes. Again, because I’m lazy and I don’t clean my brushes immediately after using them, so I need spares. One of my oldest brushes that I have is the Sigma F80. I’ve, no joke, had this brush for four years. I’ve washed it so many times, and no matter what, she has been loyal to me and stayed in perfect condition! I’m pretty sure she’s indestructible. I absolutely bought this because Jaclyn Hill raved about it forever. I was hesitant to spend $25 on a single brush, but here we are… four years later and well.. its worth every penny.

Sigma

Another amazing foundation brush that I use regularly is the Morphe M439 brush. Its more of a rounded top brush and slightly larger, I think its totally a personal preference thing. It’s $9 less than the Sigma brush, but I’ve not had it long enough to say whether it will last as long. I’m very happy with the quality and I definitely recommend this one as well!

Ulta

So, finding my favorite concealer brush was a bit of a challenge. It unfortunately comes only in a kit from Real Techniques … I found it the cheapest on Amazon for just under $20 and I’m not here to tell you that you need all of the brushes in the kit. Now that I’m thinking back, I do believe the one that I use was part of a slightly different kit (they’ve updated their brushes.. I’ve had it a while. The kit comes with a fan brush, (I absolutely cannot stand fan brushes. If you like them, then you do you, but they’re just not my jam. lol) the contour brush I use for concealer, an eyeliner brush, a lip brush, (I’d personally use that for my lower lash line… I don’t think I’ve ever used a lip brush in my life..) and a soft angled brush that you can use for blush or highlight. Overall It’s a great set, and I’d have a use for everything but the fan brush.

Amazon

Once I apply my concealer, I immediately set it with some type of powder. I don’t always set my entire face, but I ALWAYS set my undereye area to prevent creasing. I’ve got three of this Real Techniques Setting Brush, so that I ALWAYS have one clean.

Ulta

For bronzer/contour, I use two different brushes. One for a more diffused bronze glow, and the other when I want more of a deep defined contour. You’re going to love me for these… They’re both from ELF and super affordable. When I want a lighter bronzed look, I go with the ELF Flawless Face Brush weighing in at a whopping $6 – Super budget friendly, this could also be used as a powder brush if you’d like!

Amazon

When I really want to contour, this ELF Beautifully Bare Blending Brush is perfection!

Ulta

When I do use powder there are only two brushes I really truly love for powder. They are both from the ItCosmetics for Ulta line and they’re amazing! First is the Love Beauty Fully Complexion Powder Brush. These brushes are such high quality! They’re so soft and feel so nice on your face!

Ulta

The other face brush I really love is actually part of a set, the Complexion Perfection Essentials 3 Piece Deluxe Brush Set. I’m fairly certain I got this as a free gift with purchase, because I honestly don’t see me buying this kit, simply because the only brush I use from the kit regularly is the powder brush. I will say, however that the carrying case is very nice, for all of the traveling I never do lol. (And that nobody is doing right now) But if you use the other style of brushes this kit is a great deal! They are very high quality brushes!

Ulta

My favorite highlighter brush is another from Morphe, the M510. I love that their brushes are great quality at an affordable price point!

Ulta

If I’m being completely honest, I don’t know that I’ve ever actually purchased a blush brush. I feel like every blush brush I’ve got has come in a box or as a free gift with a purchase! This is the newer version of the Real Techniques brush I have and it works very well!

Amazon

Eyes

I probably have about 50 more eye brushes than the average person needs, again.. I like to let my brushes build up and clean them all at once rather than cleaning them every single time I use them. I’m just going to go over the basics. You’ll need a fluffy blending brush, a shading brush, and a flat liner brush.

My all time favorite blending brush is an old one from the Sonia Kashuk line at target. Unfortunately, they’ve revamped the line and this one looks like it is similar but slightly smaller. This brush is what you would use to blend your crease and outer area of the lid.

Sonia Kashuk™ Essential Blending Crease Makeup Brush - image 1 of 2
Target

This one looks similar to the one that I currently have, I’m sure that either of them will work just fine, if you’re looking for a more precise blending brush, go with the smaller, if you want more of a blended, diffused look, go with the larger one.

Sonia Kashuk™ Tapered Blending Makeup Brush - image 1 of 2
Target

The next brush you’ll need would be a flat liner brush. Again, this Morphe M432 brush is a favorite of mine. Super affordable and works so well!

Ulta

The last eye brush you really need is a shading brush. These brushes are literally everywhere and you can probably find about 100 different versions. Go with what makes you comfortable! The Morphe M167 is a great affordable option!

Ulta

Okay, there we have it. The most used brushes in my collection.. and when I say collection… Its insane. These brushes are all my favorites and I recommend them to everyone that asks me about makeup brushes. In general, any brush that you purchase from Sigma, Morphe, Real Techniques, or It Cosmetics for Ulta, will not disappoint you. I’ve been so happy with these brands for so long!

Let me know what kinds of things you’d like to see next!

XOXO Sam

Five Minute Face

As many of you know, I am a huge fan of alllll the beauty products. Some days I love to go full glam and wear a full face of makeup that most people would never wear. Other days I like to go super light and put nothing on my face at all.

So as I was kind of getting myself ready for yet another day of sitting in my house… I decided why not put this together on the blog! Its super simple and takes literally like 3 minutes to do!

First I start with my face. I take the Tula Face Filter Blurring & Moisturizing Primer, and spread one pump on my face. This stuff is incredible and really does magically make your face look filtered. I don’t know how they do it, but I’ll be a fan of this product for life!

Next, I take the Tula Rose Glow & Get It Cooling and Brightening Eye Balm and just apply it under my eyes. I’ve also got the original Glow & Get it Cooling and Brightening Eye Balm and love it just as much!

Next, I use the Benefit Gimme Brow in shade 3, and brush it through my brows. This is really a great product for quick brow days. Of course, if I were wearing more makeup, I’d wear more in my brows, but I love this stuff for a quick sweep of color and volume in my naturally light brows!

After that we have the star of the show! If there were only one makeup product on the planet that I could use, this would be it. I have very light eyelashes and need them to stand out. It is amazing how much of a difference mascara makes! It Cosmetics Superhero mascara is hands down my favorite mascara of all time! I’ll never go without her!

Lastly, I grab this Wander Beauty Lip Retreat Oil in the shade Skinny Dip. I got this a sample and absolutely love it! Its so hydrating on my super dry lips and also gives just a touch of color and a ton of gloss!

Here is the final product!

Easy and simple! Have you ever tried any of these products? I’d love to hear your thoughts! ❤️

Ulta 21 Days of Beauty 2020 | Week 1

My second favorite time of year is here! Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty kicks off today!

In the midst of all the craziness in the world right now, I’m going to share with you something a little bit more positive. Anyone who’s been here for a minute knows how much I love Ulta and how excited I get for the 21 Days of Beauty sale every year!

For those of you unfamiliar with the sale, every day, for 21 days, there are a select few products that are on sale for 50% off. These items are referred to as beauty steals. The sale on that item lasts just one day, so its important to me to have it all planned out and know in advance the items I am interested in!

In addition to the daily sales, there is a weekly special for each of the three weeks. These are usually not quite 50% off but are still really great deals and the sale runs for the entire week instead of just one day. If there is something in portion of the sale that you want, you may want to wait to add it to your cart on a day that you are buying something else.

Diamond/Platinum Exclusives – When you spend an embarrassing amount of money at Ulta each year, like me, you can either earn diamond or platinum status. This award allows you to have free shipping with the purchase of any beauty steal.

I’m going to break it down week by week (in three separate posts), sharing the weekly Hot Buys first and then each of the daily items.

Which days are you most excited about? What products caught your eyes? What products can you give your input on? I’d love to hear your opinions on some of these products! Leave a comment!

Stay tuned next weekend for Week 2!

Try-On Tuesday: Old Navy

I know I do a lot of try-ons at Old Navy, but that’s because they have really high quality items for such a reasonable price. I actually ran in to make a few returns the other day and saw SO many amazing spring pieces that I had to try some of them on. Who else is OVER winter and so ready for spring and summer?!

Also, LOL at my fake tan. I didn’t go all the way up my thigh with it because it’s definitely not shorts season right now and I’m not about wasting product.

You guys. This romper. It is absolutely gorgeous! The pattern is so pretty! It has a little button hook on the back of the neck, and opens up, so it’s super easy to put on and take off. I’m wearing a small, so I’d say it’s TTS.

These sandals are literally the most comfortable pair of sandals. I have the leopard pair from last summer and I’ll be buying the tan ones once it’s warmer for sure! They’re TTS, I’m wearing an 8 here but I have an 8.5 in the leopard and they fit perfectly. If you have wider feed I would size up.

Romper | Sandals

This dress was another item that caught my eye! It’s a swing dress so it’s very flowy and relaxed. Thus it may not be an ideal fit for everyone. I think it would look super cute belted and with booties for spring! I sized down to an XS, and I definitely recommend going down a size unless you have a larger chest or shoulders.

Dress | Sandals

I absolutely loved this top on the hanger, and definitely would have gone with a size small, but all they had was an XS. I thought it just had such a pretty detailed pattern on it. It came in several other color options but I really liked this off-grey shade. Definitely go with your true size in this one.

This was a perfect pair of basic denim shorts. They are a mid rise and have a 3” inseam, which is my favorite. I’d say go with your true size or size up one if you like a looser fit. I’m wearing a 4 and they’re fine but a 6 would have worked as well.

Tee | Shorts | Sandals

This top might just be my favorite thing I tried on. It is absolutely beautiful! The pattern and colors are just so gorgeous for spring. It fit really well, I’m wearing my true size small.

Top | Shorts | Sandals

I really liked this button front shirt. It was very crisp and clean looking and I love how it paired with the distressed shorts. It would also look super cute with black denim or shorts. Another cute option would be to layer it with a cardigan.

I definitely needed a size up in these shorts. I went with my normal Old Navy size, and they were a boyfriend fit, but pretty snug. They weren’t uncomfortable, I would have just preferred a size up. I loved the distressing and the color!

Top | Shorts | Sandals

Lastly, I threw on this super soft and cozy hoodie. I could live in this thing! I really loved the subtle tie-dye pattern. It also came in at least one other color! I sized up to a medium in this one for a more over sized fit. (I definitely wouldn’t pair it with these shoes.)

Hoodie | Shorts | Sandals

Which was your favorite item? Are you ready for spring fashion, or do you live in a place like lovely Ohio, that still has quite a while before its time for cute springy items?
